Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars … All the announcements and releases of Disney + Day 2022


Every year, the Disney streaming platform celebrates itself on a day simply called the Disney+ Daywhich falls this Thursday, September 8.

The opportunity for the firm to highlight its services, its catalog and its universe, and to offer events in these parks from around the world (including Disneyland Paris), and new films, documentaries and series on its streaming platform. Here’s what’s new for Disney+ subscribers today.

Until Tuesday September 20 at 8:59 a.m., the streaming platform offers a promotional offer one month to its new customers and former subscribers, at the price of 1.99€.

New Disney+ Day films and series


Pinocchio

The live remake of the Disney classic released in 1940, itself adapted from the story by Carlo Collodi, published in 1881, which tells the story of a wooden puppet determined to live the most thrilling adventure to become a real little boy. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the future, Forrest Gump), and counts in its cast Tom Hanks as Geppetto, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket or even Cynthia Erivo as Blue Fairy.

Andor

For Disney+ Day, the streaming platform unveils an exclusive preview of the next Star Wars series Andor. A 9-minute featurette to be found on the home page, and which tells us more about the show which tells the story of the young Cassian Andor before the events of RogueOne. The first three episodes of the series will be available September 21 on Disney+.

Cars: On the Road

This never-before-seen series of 9 shorts from Pixar Animation Studios follows Lightning McQueen and his best friend Martin as they set off from Radiator Springs on a road trip across the United States to find Martin’s sister. Along the way, each stop is an adventure in its own right, punctuated by encounters with colorful characters.

The New Mutants

Held in a secret division against their will, five New Mutants must come to terms with their gifts and come to terms with the grave mistakes of their past. Hunted by a supernatural power, their most terrifying fears will come true. A movie from the X-Men franchise.

BTS: Permission to dance on stage – LA

A program filmed during four concerts of the Korean group BTS at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, on November 27 and 28 and December 1 and 2, 2021. The film by Sam Wrench and Junsoo Park includes live versions of the group’s famous songs, including Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance.

Wedding Season

The story of Katie and Stefan, who fall in love with each other at a wedding and begin an affair while she is engaged to another man. Two months later, at Katie’s wedding, her new husband and all of her in-laws are murdered. The police suspect Stefan while the latter suspects Katie. Nobody knows what really happened and the tragic lovers embark on a frantic run to prove their innocence.

Mike

A 4-episode biopic mini-series retraces the ups and downs of the career and private life of exceptional boxer Mike Tyson, who for a time became infrequent then rehabilitated after making amends.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Return of a Jedi

This 1-hour documentary presents the making-of of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi. On the program: never-before-seen images from the filming and unpublished interviews with the actors, directors and producers of the Star Wars show.

Tierra Incognita

With his friends, his sister, and his aunt, Eric will have to overcome his fears to find answers and solve the mystery in a dark and unknown world.

My adolescence

Created by Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and Culture House, this documentary series explores the challenges, victories and complexity of adolescence through ten compelling learning stories. The series uses a mix of formats, narrative, experimental and documentary, to follow young people aged 18 to 22 as they tell their stories. This docuseries is made up of 10 episodes lasting 25 to 30 minutes each.

Documentary filmmaker Bertie Gregory, 29, embodies a new generation of inspiring naturalist adventurers. In this new program from National Geographic, Bertie takes viewers on epic and thrilling journeys into the heart of the most spectacular and secret spaces of the wild world.

What announcements during the D23?

Disney hasn’t finished surprising us: in addition to Disney+ Day today, the D23 agreement also stands September 9-11. This event will be an opportunity for the Mickey firm to unveil its next productions.

While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, we can expect advertisement on future phases 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first pictures of season 3 of The Mandalorianthe first teaser highly anticipated Indiana Jones 5scheduled for next summer, or a new trailer of the next Avatar: The Waterway.
