Winchesters star details how Jensen Ackles helped on set | Pretty Reel

Winchesters star Meg Donnelly reveals Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles was on set and offered advice on some scenes on the show. The next The CW show is a prequel to the popular dark fantasy series that ended in 2020. The Winchesters is set to air on October 11, 2022.

As Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Ackles)’s battle against the hidden and dark forces of the world came to an end in 2020 after 15 years, The Winchesters promises to bring fans back to the world of Supernatural. The series will follow the parents of the Demon Hunter brothers, John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Donelly), long before Sam and Dean are born, as the pair fall in love in the face of their own demonic enemies. Although the series is set before Supernatural, Ackles will reprise the role of Dean for The Winchesters, serving as the prequel’s story narrator. And according to Donnelly, Ackles gave plenty of advice on how the actor should approach many moments on the show.

In an exclusive interview with Reuters, Donnelly reveals that Ackles was present for the production of the pilot episode of The Winchester, where he would offer advice throughout filming. She explains that Ackles would help guide her in how she should approach many small moments, such as how she should play a lock-picking scene convincingly. He also lent his knowledge of supernatural lore, explaining the context of certain terminologies and monsters to the cast throughout production. Check out Donnelly’s recollection below:

On the pilot, Jensen was on set every day and has so much advice. I just remember the first day, I was picking a lock to get into a door somewhere, and he was like, “Oh, we have to do it like this to make it more convincing.” Believe me, I did for a while. And I was like, ‘Oh, cool. So it was little things like that.

Drake is literally a foot taller than me and so [Jensen] was like, “When I did scenes with Jared, I never collapsed on my hip because you’re even smaller. So just make sure you stand on two feet because I learned the hard way. I was like, “Oh! Just like little things like that. Or he was telling us details on the show, because there are Easter eggs all the time. He was just telling us about different monsters; different hunter terms. It’s really useful to have it on set.

Both Donnelly and Rodger praised Ackles’ involvement in the series. In addition to reprising the role of Dean, he is also an executive producer of the series alongside his wife Danneel, which allowed him to influence the direction of the series and to share his knowledge of the universe with the new members. of distribution. With Ackles’ big involvement, it’s clear the Supernatural star hopes the prequel series stays consistent and in keeping with the tone of the original series.

The Winchesters are about to bring the world of Supernatural to life for a new generation and longtime fans who grew up alongside the original series. Although Ackles’ co-star Padalecki isn’t involved in the prequel, it’s clear that Ackles is determined to make sure it lives up to fans’ expectations, ensuring that even the smallest details be treated well. With Donnelly praising Ackles’ guidance, The Winchesters is shaping up to be a faithful and promising expansion into the world of Supernatural.
