1 The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting

The Yakuza’s guide to Babysitting (in Japanese Kumichō Musume to Sewagakari, that is to say The Boss’s daughter and her curator) is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Tsukiya in 2018. Serialization started on the Comic Ride pixiv website, and was a huge hit pretty much right away.

The story follows the adventures of Tōru Kirishima, right-hand man of the Sakuragi crime family, a man so violent and unregulated that he earned the nickname “Sakuragi’s Demon”. A character, apparently, unable to find redemption. But one day she receives a special assignment from her boss: to babysit his daughter! This incredible situation will change a lot of things, in a single curtain of excitement and fun.

The animated adaptation is produced by feel./GAINA, as well as being directed by Itsuro Kawasaki, with scripts written by Keiichiro Ōchi and character designs by Hiromi Ogata.

2 ODDTAXI in the Woods

ODDTAXI is an animated series that was born just like anime from the genius of Kazuya Konomoto and Baku Kinoshita. In a world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, Odokawa taxi driver, a mild-mannered and intelligent walrus, does his job competently and professionally before being reluctantly slipped into a bad deal with crime. The series has had a tremendous success, so much so that the fame of ODDTAXI has transported the characters that populate the mysterious anime from the smoky streets of Shibuya to the stars: the new film ODDTAXI in the Woods is composed of both scenes taken from the anime and a new part never told before. It has become a great success in Japanese cinemas, despite having been shown in a few cinemas.

The investigations and secret lives of the superlative characters of ODDTAXI will be told again by the feature film entitled ODDTAXI: In the Woodswhich will be available from next week on Crunchyroll.

3 Jujutsu Kaisen 0

The story of Jujutsu Kaisen, which stars student Itadori Yūji who will see his life turned forever when he comes into contact with the fetish of a very powerful demon, Ryomen Sukuna, returns with an animated prequel film that has had incredible success in his homeland. I’m talking about Jujutsu Kaisen 0a feature film that draws its roots from the manga written and drawn by Gege Akutami.

The veterans of the MAPPA studio, who are experts in churning out visual masterpieces, animate this film. You can confirm the veracity of my statements by taking a look at the official trailer you see below, while Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will be available on Crunchyroll starting from 21 September!

4 Cinderella Chef

We have arrived at our usual appointment with the “slice of life” genre, and I have chosen for you an anime of Chinese origin: Cinderella Chef! This particular animated series stars Ye Jiayao, a young and talented cook who dreams of one day becoming a great chef. However, she finds herself teleported to another world (in true isekai style), only the “new world” is Imperial China, and she is in the body of a mere common girl. The protagonist is immediately kidnapped and held hostage, but she manages to use her multiple talents and her sense of humor to get herself out of trouble.

5 Black Summoner

Born in 2014, from a light novel by Doufu Mayoi, Black Summoner has recently become an isekai / fantasy animated series. The protagonist is a boy named Kelvin, who has lost his memories of him as a “payment” to be transferred to another world. The isekai element is never lacking in these adventures. As he grows stronger, Kelvin surrounds himself with subordinates and trains his abilities in hopes of becoming powerful enough to summon nothing less than his Angel Follower. Because? Well, because he thinks he’s absolutely in love with her.

Between fights with demons and supernatural creatures, Black Summoner will take you without too many thoughts into a fantasy world with a classic story of challenges and “level up”.

We give you an appointment in October, for a Halloween in the name of Japanese animation!
