Marvel Studios prepares a series of Strange Academy for Disney + with Benedict Wong

After being a fan-favorite character from Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sorcerer Supreme Wong is finally getting his own Disney+ series. According to rumors, Marvel Studios is working on ”Strange Academy,” a show based on the fictional school that appears in the Marvel comics.

While none of this has yet been confirmed, the Disney+ series will be one of the most important productions in history before reaching ”Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”, placing a greater emphasis on the supernatural aspects within the MCU.

The actor Benedict Wong will star in ”Strange Academy” as Wong, with xochitl gomez returning with her role as America Chavez and Zelma Stanto with a character which will be introduced in the next series of ”Ironheart”.

Created by Skottie Young and artist Humberto Ramos, Strange Academy is a fictional school founded by Doctor Strange to train youngsters with magical abilities to efficiently wield wizardry. The school first appeared in the comic ”Strange Academy #1”.

At the moment, Marvel Studios has not introduced a version of the Strange Academy in the MCU, but at the end of ”Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” we did see America Chavez learning how to conjure basic magic with Kamar Taj, so that this could be an indication that the academy will exist in the future.

After his debut in Phase 3, Wong went on to have a larger presence in Phase 4 of the MCU, leading many Marvel fans to refer to the previous phase as “Phase Wong”. Wong’s recurring role on “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” was especially well received by fans, prompting many to campaign online for Marvel to give Wong his own spin-off.

Benedict Wong himself said that he was open to the idea of starring in a series starring Wong. ”You know, a lot of people have said that,” the actor said. “Yeah, I could certainly come up with some ideas. But hey, it’s not for me to push that. I mean, look, I love playing this role, and I think there’s a lot more scope we could go into with a series.”

Official confirmation from Marvel Studios is still missing to see if ”Strange Academy” will arrive at Disney+ in the future.
