The best games to download and try for free on Netflix

Few people know that on Netflix, through the application for smartphones and tablets, it is possible to play various interesting titles. Here are which ones to choose.

Did you know that there is a surprisingly good catalog of games that you can try as part of your Netflix subscription? Apparently, you are among the few… At the bottom of the Netflix app on your smartphone or tablet, you can find a tab dedicated to video games, and from there you can download and play various mobile titles.

Netflix: The best video games on the app —

What’s odd about this feature is that some of these games are not only recent releases, but also very high-end, with Immortality ending up in several Game of the Year lists. In this list, you will find the top ten games that you can download and play right now as part of your Netflix subscription, and you won’t want to miss a single one.

Poinpy

Made by the developer of Downwell, Poinpy is based on the opposite idea – instead of going down, you’ll have to jump your way through levels: it’s a lovely and colorful game where you collect fruit and use swiping skills to jump between platforms. Quality fun and instantly satisfying.

Immortality

Immortality is a modern FMV game that will have you sifting through movie clips looking for clues. It will be up to you to piece together and figure out the plot. An actress has gone missing, and clues about how it happened and why are scattered across three unreleased films starring her. Sam Barlow’s mystery games haven’t gotten old yet, and Immortality is the best of the lot. Be sure to keep a pen and paper handy, though.

Kentucky Route Zero

It is not easy to enter the almost monochromatic world of Kentucky Route Zero but, once you pass the initial barrier, you will find a world full of mystery and very strong underlying messages – some explicit, some subtle, which perhaps you will miss completely on the first run . A visual novel with memorable art direction and an incredible story that will stick with you, even if you leave it with a few unanswered questions.

oxenfree

Oxenfree is considered an essential indie game, inspired by 80s teen movies. You will play with radios before being sucked into a supernatural adventure with a ghostly rift. But the characters, the story and the natural dialogues are what people remember Oxenfree for the most.

Stranger Things

There are three Stranger Things games on Netflix Games: a puzzler (Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales), a top-down action game (Stranger Things: 1984), and an isometric adventure (Stranger Things 3: The Game). Each has its own peculiarities and if you are a fan of the series, it is worth trying them all.

Reigns: Three Kingdoms

Reigns are interesting city sims where almost the entire game is played with Tinder-style swipes left and right. You will be asked questions about how to manage your kingdom and you will essentially have to swipe to answer yes or no, trying to keep everyone happy and content. Three Kingdoms has all of this and more, as full battles.

Into The Breach

An apparently simple isometric strategy game, but Into The Breach reminds you of classics like Advance Wars and that’s not a bad thing at all. The sprite art is nice and the strategies are deeper than you’d expect from a mobile strategy game. It’s definitely worth a try, especially if you love punching kaiju and sending them straight into a mountain.

Teeter (Up)

A simple arcade game where you move a ball through levels and balance it on a platform. You will roll it back and forth to make progress. It’s one of those classic mobile experiences where each level can be completed in seconds, but the sheer satisfaction will keep you coming back again and again.

Exploding Kittens – The Game

A simple card game, a bit like Uno. In this title, the main objective is not to blow up. It is possible to draw an explosive kitten, which will blow you up instantly, but not if you have a card to defuse it. The goal is to be the last player not to explode, basically, which is sure to spark some good discussions with friends.

Solitaire

Okay, listen up. Do you know how difficult it is to find and play an ad-free version of Solitaire on mobile? It’s awfully hard to find a game that doesn’t throw pop-ups in your face at every opportunity. The policy of Netflix Games having no ads in their games is a blessing when it comes to Solitaire. Perfect for grandparents and their new smartphones.
