Tyler Posey From Film About How Scott McCall Navigates As An Adult

Teen Wolf: The Movie may mark a long-awaited return to Beacon Hills, but it looks like nothing will enough as people remember it. Show star Tyler Posey, who won hearts over the supernatural series’ six seasons for his portrayal of Scott McCall, opened up about how the show will pick up 15 years after the series ended. A natural leader (and true alpha), Scott was best known for his humility, zeal for life, and unwavering loyalty to his loved ones. During the show, audiences witnessed Scott as he navigated his werewolf metamorphosis and the not-so-supernatural woes of being a teenager.

Now, Posey has revealed the film will mark a break from Scott’s teenage audiences last seen on screens. When the film picks up, Scott is in his early thirties and has decided not to be the hero anymore after years of being “constantly on edge trying to save the world” as a true alpha. Given that a true alpha can gain their powers through the strength and purity of their character rather than killing another alpha like other werewolves, it’s no surprise that Scott has trouble navigate life without heroism.

Speaking at New York Comic Con, Posey said: ” [hero] role, he got a bit lost. The first time we see Scott is the first time we see him do stuff like a normal person, since the pilot. It’s pretty intense to see Scott lead a mundane, normal life. He’s also lonely because he misses something in his life, he misses the hero role, he misses friends, he misses Beacon Hills [and] he lacks a family. So we see Scott as sort of a troubled, depressed adult, sort of facing loneliness for the first time and it’s really special, powerful and impactful. I think a lot of us can relate because the last time the show came out everyone grew up with it and now we’re all legitimately adults.”

As well as a new path of discovery for Scott and a new foray into fatherhood for former bad boy (man) Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin), Teen Wolf: The Movie is set to welcome back one of the show’s most beloved characters, Allison Argent (crystal reed). News of the werewolf hunter’s return was revealed in a shocking teaser for the film which showed her emerging from the shadows as she fired arrows at Derek’s head. Reed’s return was especially surprising given that Allison died earlier in the series. How exactly she is alive has yet to be revealed.

Turns out, it wasn’t just the public who were thrilled to see Allison pick up her bow, Teen Wolf Creator Jeff Davis revealed that Reed’s return was one of his biggest inspirations for the film. “I always said if we were going to make a movie, we should bring Crystal back,” he told New York Comic Con. “So the ideas started filtering through and I said to Crystal… ‘are you ready to take up the bow and arrow again?’ We talked and there was still magic.”

In true nostalgia, audiences can expect to see a slew of familiar faces make a return, including Melissa Ponzio as Melissa McCall, Shelly Hennig like Malia Tate, Holland Roden like Lydia Martin, Colton Haynes like Jackson Whittemore and Dylan Sprayberry like Liam Dunbar.

Teen Wolf: The Movie lands on Paramount+ on January 26, 2023. You can watch the new clip below:
