Wednesday Cast and Character Guide | Pretty Reel

Tim Burton’s Wednesday sees new cast take on iconic Addams Family characters, with plenty of familiar faces and newcomers playing the ‘outcasts’ and ‘standards’ at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday follows teenage character Wednesday Addams as she enrolls in Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts located in the city of Jericho. The supernatural outcasts of Nevermore often find themselves in conflict with the local “normies” (humans without supernatural powers), which escalates when a series of brutal murders terrorizes Jericho. As Wednesday adjusts to her new school and learns to control her psychic powers, she also investigates a murder mystery that implicated her parents 30 years ago.

As the title suggests, the Netflix series focuses on Wednesday, so its family members Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, and Fester Addams aren’t major main characters. Alongside various award-winning actors and newcomers to Wednesday’s cast, the Supernatural adaptation of The Addams Family also brings back iconic Wednesday Addams actress from the 1990s film series, Christina Ricci, who stars in a new role. Here’s a breakdown of the cast and characters from the Tim Burton-directed Wednesday series, including Jenna Ortega as beloved teen Wednesday Addams.

Jenna Ortega in Wednesday Addams

Best known for her horror roles, Jenna Ortega takes on homicidal character Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday. The main character is the deadpan goth daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams, who is sent to the outcast school of Nevermore Academy after trying to kill students at her old high school. As she navigates her new school, Wednesday learns to control her psychic powers and solves a 25-year-old murder mystery. Ortega also plays Goody Addams, Wednesday’s ancestor from the 17th century. Scream Queen Jenna Ortega is known for her roles in Scream (2022), X, The Fallout, You, Stuck in the Middle and Jane the Virgin.

Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair

Enid is Wednesday’s bubbly and colorful roommate at Nevermore Academy. He is a werewolf who is ostracized in his family because he cannot “miss himself”. As the two begin their cohabitation at odds, Enid and Wednesday form an unexpected friendship throughout the semester. Prior to Wednesday, Myers appeared on The Baker and the Beauty and Girl in the Basement.

Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe

A mysterious student who has the power to bring his drawings to life at Nevermore Academy, who is also interested in Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams. Xavier is an artist tortured by the legacy of his father Vincent Thorpe, a renowned medium who has little time for his son. Xavier was Rowan’s roommate who previously dated Bianca, Nevermore’s most popular girl. White has also been seen in Edge of Winter, A Christmas Horror Story, Between and The Gifted.

Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin

Tyler is the normal son of Sheriff Galpin of Jericho Wednesday. The teenage character works at the local cafe, Weathervane Cafe, where he forms a close bond with Wednesday Addams. Notable roles for Doohan include Teenage Warren in Truth Be Told and Adam Desiato in Your Honor.

Gwendoline Christie is best known for her Emmy-nominated performance as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. She has also been seen in Netflix’s The Sandman as Lucifer and the Star Wars sequel films as Captain Phasma.

Christina Ricci as Marilyn Thornhill

Marilyn Thornhill is the dorm mother of Ophelia Hall, Wednesday and Enid’s residence. Miss Thornhill is the first and only normal staff member at Nevermore Academy Wednesday, where she also teaches botany. Christina Ricci is perhaps best known for her iconic portrayal of Wednesday Addams in the 1991 and 1993 Addams Family films, with the actor now passing the gothic role to Jenna Ortega. Ricci has also starred in projects like Yellowjackets, Now and Then, Casper, Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow and 2021’s The Matrix Resurrections.

Sheriff Galpin is quickly at odds with Wednesday Addams, who finds herself in the middle of a supernatural murder investigation while spending more and more time with her son. McShane is known for his roles in Bloodline, Gone Girl, Argo, Sons of Anarchy and The Lincoln Lawyer.

Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams

The goth wife of Gomez Addams and the mother of Wednesday and Pugsley. Also a psychic, Morticia attended Nevermore Academy 30 years ago, Wednesday now stuck in her mother’s shadow.
