Ella Jay Basco: Birds of Prey (2020)
Stream on HBO Max
There have been several arguments as to why Birds of Prey is the best DCEU movie, with the cast’s chemistry being named as one of the highlights. Ella Jay Basco plays Cassandra Cain, a youngster who teams up with Harley Quinn when the mob chases her after she steals precious diamonds.
Birds of Prey gave Basco her biggest platform yet, with the DCEU film giving the actress mainstream exposure. The film didn’t set the box office on fire, but received some of the best critical acclaim for a DCEU offering, and Basco’s dynamic with Margot Robbie was on full display.

For many Marvel fans, Rogue is the best member of the X-Men because she brings emotional depth to the story. Anna Paquin played the character for over a decade, as Rogue grew from a scared teenager unsure of her powers to a seasoned member of the team.
Paquin was one of the actors in the original trilogy that closely followed Snape’s identity crisis. The Rogue Cut was commissioned as an expansion to X-Men: Days of Future Past, and it played a larger role for Paquin, which showed just how popular she was with audiences.

Austin Stowell appears as Ryan Connolly, another batsman who is battling for the base position against Andrew.
Stowell does a commendable job of making Simmons’ Fletcher appear like a tyrannical instructor, as his character is heavily abused along with the rest of the group. The subtle rivalry between Connolly and Andrew also contributes to the tension that comes to the surface at the film’s climax.

First Reformed is a great showcase for Ettinger’s acting skills, with the film failing to hold back the gruesome reality of people with damaged psyches. The film can be confusing how open-ended it is, but the theme of overcoming grief to take responsibility for life choices should be obvious to viewers.
