(CNN Spanish) — Amazon continues preparing the launch of the series “The Lord of the Rings: the Rings of Power”, which is called to be one of the series of the year. A less than two months for its premiere (scheduled for September 2), the company has released a new trailer that reveals more of this new adventure in Middle-earth. It is loaded with elements that many fans expected to see.
To the sound of an epic melody (let’s remember that Howard Shore is once again in charge of the soundtrack), the exuberant landscapes return, the snowy mountains, the dwarven mines, the leafy elven forests… The hairy ones (Harfoots in their original name , and a sub-race of the well-known hobbits) appear as a new race that will take center stage. We again see Galadriel and Elrond fearing for the armies of darkness. Cavalry charges, drifting ships, combat with supernatural creatures. And the warning that all this could be the beginning of a new era.
This is not the first trailer or trailer that Amazon has revealed. In February 2022, they already showed the first video preview in which some of the identity signs that we will see in the series could be observed. More recently, in June, the media specialized in videogames and entertainment IGN posted some pictures exclusively of what orcs and killer whales would look like.
What do we know about The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power? Story, characters and seasons
This new story is set thousands of years before the events that occurred in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, specifically in the Second Age (the one before the Third Age, which is known for being the one in which the main events of the aforementioned books). The Second Age ends precisely in the battle in which Sauron is defeated and the one ring is lost, which is precisely the prologue to the first Lord of the Rings film: The Fellowship of the Ring.
The series will show how the rings of power (three for elves, seven for dwarves, nine for men and one for Sauron) were forged, precisely in a time of peace in which evil reappears. The kingdoms of the dwarves in the Misty Mountains and the great kingdom of men —Númenor— will be present, which would be that scenario that appeared in the first video preview that was revealed in February 2022.
Characters already known from Tolkien’s universe such as Galadriel, Elrond, Isildor or Sauron will appear in the series, as well as Gil Galad or new additions created specifically for this series.
The first season will have eight episodes and there are plans to do up to 5 seasons, because as the showrunner of the series, JD Payne, told in interview with Empire, Amazon bought rights to produce up to a total of 50 hours
