“Ninja Warrior”: will the Gersois Grégory Martin reach the Heroes’ Tower?

the essential
The 7th season of the show “Ninja Warrior” is broadcast from this Saturday, January 7 on TF1. Among the many candidates who will try to qualify for the semi-final: the Gersois Grégory Martin. By participating in this competition, the Condomois, passionate about Parkour since his childhood, realized “a dream”.

“As a child, when I went out, I had fun climbing and climbing everywhere, recalls Grégory Martin, 25. I was a bit hyperactive when I was little, so my parents enrolled me in lots of different sports. But it was only around 14-15 years old that I discovered the art of movingParkour”. This sporting discipline is a race that aims to include the obstacles that arise by crossing them in an acrobatic way.

And in a few years, the obstacles faced by the Gers sportsman have changed a lot. The Condomois indeed took part last May in the 7th season of the program “Ninja Warrior: The course of the Heroes”, whose broadcast begins this Saturday January 7 on TF1.

“A dream” for the young man who has never abandoned his passion. Before settling in the Gers, he worked in a trampoline park in Pau, where a course inspired by Ninja Warrior was installed, with several lines of obstacles and walls. “It allowed me to continue training, explains Grégory Martin. As I had the best scores, my colleagues and friends encouraged me to apply for the show”.

“We take a blow in the g*****”

They did not have to insist much for the Gersois to register: “I had known for a long time that I wanted to participate, but at that time, I was in the right conditions”, recognizes the former computer science student, who was not discouraged by the complexity of the obstacles, quite the contrary. “When we arrive on the course, it’s incredible. We take a blow in the g *****, if I can say so, laughs the Condomois. We have the impression on TV that the lines are easy but it really isn’t.”

The qualification course for this 7th season is also, according to the production of TF1, the most difficult since the start of the show. Raising of the “classic” wall by 25 cm (it now culminates at 4.50 m), limited time for the first two obstacles, Memory Tower… Some rules have been changed and should make the task much more complicated for competitors.

A Gers Batman

But the Gersois was not impressed by the difficulty of the event. The surpassing of oneself is also one of the reasons that led him to apply. As well as the pride of taking part in an adventure watched by millions of viewers every year. “The feeling of being in Cannes for the filming was magical, assures Grégory Martin. We discover behind the scenes, it’s quite incredible”.

It is therefore with impatience that the candidate awaits the broadcast of the program on Saturday evening, in order to be able to share this “unforgettable experience”. He will watch it with his whole family, including his nephews who will discover him on screen in a Batman costume. “When the production offered me to wear a superhero costume, I accepted right away, laughs Grégory Martin. It’s a wink for my family, since my nephews love superhero stories. hero. But it’s also a sign: Batman is a hero, not because he has supernatural abilities, but because he invests himself.”

Let’s hope that the batman costume will bring him luck and allow him to qualify for the semi-finals and then for the Tower of Heroes, the final event of “Ninja Warrior”. Beginning of response Saturday January 7, from 9:10 p.m. on TF1.
