Peacock cancels “Someone is lying” and “Vampire Academy”

NBCU’s streaming service has canceled “Someone Is Lying” and “Vampire Academy.” The first has added two seasons, while “Vampire Academy”, which comes from Julie Plec, ended after one.

According to Deadline, Peacock executives were happy with both shows creatively, but they just didn’t find the audience needed to justify more seasons.

someone is lying, which is based on the novel by Karen M. McManus (published in Spain by Alfaguara), launched in October 2021 and was the first Peacock pilot to become a series. The series, which was renewed for a second season earlier this year, premiered in October 2022. For its part, vampire academy it was greenlit in May 2021 and was released in September 2022. Both shows come from Universal Studio Group.

Everyone is a suspect and everyone has something to hide. Simon Kelleger is the boy who dies in that room, the same one who, through an application, is dedicated to telling the most intimate secrets of his classmates. Did any of them decide to kill him so that he wouldn’t tell them anymore?

Annalisa Cochrane (Addy), Chibuikem Uche (Cooper), Marianly Tejada (Bronwyn), Cooper van Grootel (Nate), Barrett Carnahan (Jake), Mark McKenna (Simon), Melissa Collazo (Maeve) and Jessica McLeod (Janae) star in the Serie.

The first season solved the mystery of Simon’s death and the second season picks up after the end of the first season instead of following the continuation of McManus’s novel, someone’s nextwhich takes place a year later.

Erica Saleh, who adapted the novel and wrote the pilot script for the series, has taken over as showrunner for the second season, replacing Darío Madrona, co-creator of Élite, who will remain with the show as executive producer. The series is also executive produced by John Sacchi and Matt Groesch of 5 More Minutes Productions, who developed the pilot, along with Saleh, Jan Oxenberg, Molly Nussbaum and Bill Johnson.

someone is lying It is broadcast as a Netflix exclusive in various international markets, including Spain where its two seasons have already premiered. UCP is exploring other options for the series to continue.

For his part, vampire academy comes from Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre, and is based on the literary saga of Richelle Mead that in Spain is publishing Editorial Hidra.

Written by MacIntyre, vampire academy is set in a world of privilege and glamour, where the friendship of two young women transcends their strikingly different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter the royal society of vampires. This sexy, serialized drama combines the elegance of aristocratic romance and the otherworldly thrills of the vampire genre.

The cast includes Sisi Stringer, Daniela Nieves, Kieron Moore, Andre Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, Jonetta Kaiser, and Andrew Liner.

Plec and MacIntyre are executive producing the Peacock series along with Emily Cummins, Don Murphy, Susan Montford, Deepak Nayar and Jillian DeFrehn. Bille Woodruff directs the pilot. Other directors on the series include Plec, Luis Prieto, Jesse Warn, Erica Dunton, and Geoff Shotz.

vampire academy is a production of Universal Television, a division of the Universal Studio Group. It also did well internationally, selling to over 100 territories worldwide. Similarly, the studio is exploring other options for the series to continue. vampire academy should arrive in Spain with the launch of SkyShowtime.
