First Bombshell of the Year: Netflix cancels 1899

With the new year come cancellations and unfortunately 1899the supernatural mystery series from the creators of Darkis the first head thrown to roll by Netflix.

Big disappointment for fans of 1899. The reviews were more than auspicious and there was practically no one who was dissatisfied with the series. In the worst case, they said that the plot was very complicated, but this should not be surprising since the creators are the same as Darkalso German fiction and Netflix that captivated audiences and critics for three seasons (here our analysis).

That was precisely the idea for 1899: close the story with three seasons, but unfortunately this will not be possible. Criticism and massive success often do not go hand in hand, not even when the product, as in this case, may have a segment of the public who, however many they may be, are devoted to the proposal. The reality is that despite so many positive comments and a good debut on the platform, the series failed to remain among the most viewed proposals over the weeks and this is usually a common reason for cancellation for Netflix.

I do not know if there will be the possibility of selling the series to another platform to be continued: at first glance, it occurs to me that the proposal would not be out of place, for example, in HBO or in Prime Video. I don’t know if much could be expected from the first because it is also having some problems and even, it is said, thinking of closing or reconverting HBO Max. But to the platform Amazon it is doing quite well, especially because of the good numbers that, finally it was known with certainty, it has given them The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (here the analysis of the first season by a server). In short, I repeat that I do not know the possibilities and I speak of ignorant…

Meanwhile, those who had begun to enjoy 1899 and waited expectantly for a second season, are left with nothing.
