The year 2023 has just begun, so it’s time to take stock of all the series and anime releases on Netflix’s side for the month of January. Between highly anticipated new seasons and promising new features, here is the program!
The mini-series Kaleidoscope on Netflix
Netflix has not been idle and released, from January 1, a brand new anthology series entitled Kaleidoscope and inspired by real events. With Giancarlo Esposito (breaking Bad) at the top of the bill, this one “traces the story of a heist over a period of 25 years during which experienced robbers, hounded by the police, try to penetrate a vault protected by a team of gifted security to recover the booty of the century”.
Its particularity is that “every viewer will have the opportunity to see the whole series, but the order of viewing the episodes will change their point of view on the plot, the characters and the questions and answers concerning the heist”. More than a series Kaleidoscope therefore presents itself as a truly immersive experience.
The full anime Hajime No Ippo and Monster
It is not one, but two full anime series that have been available on Netflix since January 1, 2023. First of all, there is Hajime No Ippo, which tells the story of young Ippo Makunouchi. Saved from bullies by professional boxer Mamoru Takamura and driven by the desire to become strong in turn, he decides to take up boxing. Secondly, the streaming platform offers its users Monster, an anime following a brilliant Japanese neurosurgeon who turns to the dark side as he tries to solve a series of murders involving a patient whose life he saved. He has moreover been announced that the missing episodes of both anime would be uploaded on February 1.
The Lying Life of Adults season 1
On January 4, Netflix will release serial adaptation of The Lying Life of Adults, best-selling novel by Elena Ferrante. This fiction of Italian origin is presented by the platform as “a powerful and singular portrait of the passage from childhood to adolescence of Giovanna in the 90s” in Naples.
revenge season 1
If you like series about revenge, then this Austrian production should keep you spellbound from the first to the last episode. Consisting of six episodes, revenge tells the story of a woman ready to cross certain limits in order to avenge the death of her husband. More generally, the series deals with “the fierce struggle between good and evil that lies dormant in each of us”. To discover on January 5, 2023 on Netflix.
The mini-series Copenhagen Cowboy on Netflix
Also on January 5, 2023, Netflix will offer its users the unreleased mini-series Copenhagen Cowboy. This one features Miu, a young woman who thirsts for justice and revenge and then embarks “on an odyssey between natural and supernatural” with her sworn enemy Rakel. They will then discover that there are many of them in the same situation…
Ginny and Georgia season 2 on Netflix
Almost two years after its first season went online, the series Ginny and Georgia returns on January 5 on Netflix with a whole new burst of episodes. This one will follow directly on from the previous one, and Ginny’s shock discovery about her mother. For her part, Georgia would have preferred that this remain secret because she has a wedding to prepare. Find the mother-daughter duo for new adventures very soon!
Vinland Saga season 2
Notice to all anime fans Vinland Saga : the new season 2 arrives on January 9, 2023 on Netflix! It will be broadcast at the same time as in Japan, with one new episode per week. This arc begins a year and a half after the end of the first season and follows Thorfinn, who is sold as a slave to a farmer named Ketil. It is there that he befriends Einar, another slave, and tries to gradually rebuild himself.
sexify season 2
On January 11, Netflix will release the second season of the Polish series sexify. As a reminder, the plot focuses on Natalia, an inexperienced student who explores the world of female pleasure with her friends, with the aim of creating an innovative sexual application and winning a contest.
Vikings: Valhalla season 2 on Netflix
While vikings will celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2023its spin-off Vikings: Valhalla is back on January 12 with its new season 2 on Netflix. This chapter follows the heroes shortly after the tragic fall of Kattegat. Now fugitives in Scandinavia, they must test their ambitions and their courage beyond the fjords of Kattegat.
Makanai: In the Maiko kitchen season 1
Inspired by Aiko Koyama’s best-selling comic book, the series Makanai: In the Maiko kitchen tells the story of Kiyo, a 16-year-old girl, who leaves Aomori to travel to Kyoto with her friend Sumire in order to become a maiko – which means “apprentice geisha”. But she is finally hired as a makanai, cook in a house where maikos live, and it is then the beginning of a whole new life for her. To discover on January 12 on Netflix.
Sky Rojo season 3
Did you miss them? Don’t panic, Coral, Wendy and Gina are back in an all new season of Sky Rojo ! On January 13, Netflix will release the third chapter of their adventures, which will resume six months after the final confrontation. The three heroines “understand that the past never goes away and that they will have to bury it for good if they want to be free”.
Maniac by Junji Ito: Macabre Anthology season 1
On the anime side, the month will continue with the release of Maniac by Junji Ito: Macabre Anthology January 19. This series presents itself as a collection of twenty stories adapted from the works of Junji Ito and more exactly as “an anthology of the strangest, most disturbing and most terrifying stories straight out of the mind of the genius of horror manga “. That ’90s Showthe sequel to the cult series That ’70s Show
At a time when reboots and other revivals of cult series are on the rise, it’s That ’70s Show which will make its big comeback on January 19 on Netflix in the form of a sequel entitled That ’90s Show. This one takes place 15 years later and highlights Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna, who spends the summer with her grandparents in 1995. She then sympathizes with the new generation of the small town of Point Place. . Several iconic actors from the original series will reprise their roles in this sequel, such as by Ashton Kutcher (Kelso) and Mila Kunis (Jackie).
The French series In place on Netflix
Looking for a comedy to get your teeth into to start 2023 with laughter and good humor? Netflix will offer its new French comedy series, In place, on January 20. With a cast made up of Jean-Pascal Zadi, Éric Judor, Benoît Poelvoorde, Marina Foïs and Panayotis Pascot, this fiction tells the story of Stéphane Blé, an idealistic educator who finds himself propelled into the presidential race by accident.
Fauda season 4
The long-awaited season 4 of Fauda will be released on January 20 on Netflix. Broadcast in the summer of 2022 on Israeli television, this new chapter of the series carried by Lior Raz is made up of twelve episodes and promises its share of action and twists. As a reminder, Fauda tells the story of an Israeli agent who interrupts his retreat to hunt down a Palestinian fighter he thinks has killed and thus triggers a series of dramatic events.
The Walking Dead season 11 part 2
While The Walking Dead has officially bowed out on November 20, 2022, fans who follow the series at the rate of the Netflix broadcast have reason to rejoice since the adventure is not yet over for them. Thus, the streaming platform will put the second part of season 11 online on January 21. These are therefore eight new episodes to come, bringing slowly but surely The Walking Dead to its explosive final conclusion.
The Little Girl in the Snow season 1
On January 27, a new Spanish series will be released called The Little Girl in the Snow. This depicts the disappearance of a child in the middle of the Three Kings parade in Malaga and the work of a young journalist who struggles to help the parents find her.
Lockwood & Co. season 1 on Netflix
Finally, the month of January will end with the release of the first season of Lockwood & Co.. Adapted from the novels by Jonathan Stroud, this series will immerse its viewers “into a world invaded by ghosts where large corporations employ teenagers with special psychic abilities to combat the supernatural”. At the center of the plot, we find the start-up Lockwood & Co. and its trio made up of Anthony, George and Lucy then on the verge of elucidating a mystery that will change the course of history.
